Beginning Nov. 18 through Jan. 8, Gaylord National’s annual “Christmas on the Potomac” returns with fan favorites including a 60-foot glass Tree of Light, indoor snowfalls nightly and 2 million twinkling lights. Bigger, brighter and more brilliant than any other Christmas event in the Capital Region, Gaylord National’s Christmas on the Potomac celebration presents all the joy, wonder and merriment of the holiday season on a grand scale.
This season, the resort unveils The DreamWorks® Experience. Guests will vacation with the beloved characters from such films as Shrek®, Kung Fu Panda® and Madagascar® through interactive experiences. With more than a dozen holiday events and attractions, it’s a holiday getaway sure to fulfill your Christmas dreams.

ICE!™ featuring Dreamworks’ Merry Madagascar™   Gaylord National’s popular ICE! winter holiday attraction returns with an all-new, hilarious theme: ICE! featuring DreamWorks’ Merry Madagascar™. From Nov. 18 to Jan. 8, the DreamWorks Animation holiday TV special will be brought to life in an interactive world of colorful ice sculptures carved entirely from TWO-MILLION pounds of ice. Relive the story as you stroll through this amazing attraction featuring scenes such as how Santa and his reindeer crash-landed onto the island of Madagascar, and why Alex, Marty, Gloria, Melman and the wacky penguins must figure out how to save Christmas by delivering all the presents themselves. Even the mischievous lemur King Julien learns the true meaning of the holiday and manages to get himself off the “naughty list” once and for all.
 
DreamWorks Interactive Character Meal: Become an honorary Ogre and join your friends Shrek, Princess Fiona and Puss in Boots for a fairytale feast fit for a king. Discover a Magic Fountain bubbling over with intoxicating chocolate potions and more. Solve riddles and puzzles to earn your ogre ears. Shrek, Princess Fiona and Puss in Boots will visit you tableside for hugs and photos.
 
DreamWorks “Character Passport”: Meet & Greets The DreamWorks gang is all here, and you can meet them all with a “Character Passport.” Stroll through Shrek and Princess Fiona’s beloved swamp for a face-to-face encounter with the green ogres; explore the island of Madagascar, where Alex the Lion, King Julien and the Penguins call home; and discover China’s ancient Valley of Peace where Po has become a true kung fu master. You can even meet the star of DreamWorks® newest film – Puss in Boots!
