What causes acne?
Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) is the bacteria responsible for causing acne inflammation. This bacteria lives deep within the pores. Acne develops when the sebaceous glands in the skin makes excess oil called sebum. Sebum combines with dead skin cells that clog the skin’s hair follicle pores. P. acnes colonizes in these clogged pores, causing the inflammation of the skin resulting in acne. The most common times of excess sebum production occurs during adolescence, PMS, and during perimenopause as a result of hormones. Stress can also trigger the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, causing acne flare ups. How does Light Therapy treat acne?
More than 9 million older Americans can’t pay their bills. The costs of living — basic expenses like food, housing, health care and transportation – are too much for millions of people aged 65 and older to bear. They live on a very fixed income and are finding the Golden years are not so golden. In addition to the increasing financial burdens on American Seniors, they have become one of the most forgotten and neglected members of our society.
Peripheral artery disease, or PAD, is a narrowing of the peripheral arteries, most commonly in the arteries of the pelvis and legs. PAD follows the same disease process as coronary artery disease, which causes heart attacks. A blockage in the leg artery starves the muscle of oxygen, which causes the muscle to start to hurt while walking or performing other exercise. For most patients with early stage PAD, the pain will go away once they stop to rest, and then return when they continue to walk or exercise.
